Right lane turn into Kesas at Kewajipan near Summit mall to be sealed off

PETALING JAYA: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will completely close the right turn lane onto the Shah Alam Highway (Kesas) interchange on Persiaran Kewajipan near Summit USJ mall from Aug 18.

This means that motorists coming from SS13 will no longer be able to turn right into Kesas to head to Shah Alam and Klang.

They must now turn left to Kesas (Kuala Lumpur bound) and take the U-turn just before the toll.

This follows the previous closure where motorists from USJ were no longer allowed to turn right directly into Kesas to head towards Kuala Lumpur.

Noraini said the closure was necessary to ease traffic congestion at the traffic light junction in front of Da Men Mall in USJ 1, which was congested even after rush hour.

“We want to reduce the waiting time for motorists,” she said.

She added that the closure could potentially affect traffic in front of the Kesas toll considering the number of motorists who have to cross lanes to make the U-turn would increase.

“However, this is not a permanent solution,” she said, adding that a long-term plan would be to build an elevated direct access but the council currently lacked the funds to start the project.
