Road bully caught on camera hitting man in JB identified

JOHOR BARU: Police have identified the individual behind a viral video of a man hitting another man in the middle of the road at KM18, Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Rupiah Abd Wahid said the 57-year-old victim lodged a police report over the incident on Friday at 5.19pm.

"The incident occurred on Friday at 3.10pm when the victim, who works as a trader, was heading towards Bukit Indah from Muar.

"The victim’s car was suddenly cut off by the individual, who suddenly switched lanes from the right to the middle, causing a small collision," she said in a statement today.

ACP Rupiah said both drivers started to quarrel before the individual grabbed a blunt object and hit the victim, causing injury to his head and left arm.
The case is investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years or a fine or whipping, or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.

It is also probed under Rule 6 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for cutting off vehicles in a dangerous manner, which carries a maximum fine of RM300.

ACP Rupiah said they had contacted the individual and told him to come forward.

Earlier, a nine-second video went viral on Facebook showing a man being hit by another man wearing a black shirt and jeans in the middle of the road.
