Sabah woman seen ranting at cops in viral video detained

KOTA KINABALU: The woman entrepreneur seen ranting at policemen in a viral video has been arrested.

Kota Kinabalu City police chief Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the woman was arrested at her condominium unit in Jalan Lintas here at about 11.30pm on Sunday to help in an investigation of criminal intimidation.

ACP Mohd Zaidi said police also seized the clothes she was seen wearing in the video which surfaced on June 17.

They also seized her mobile phones, car registration and car keys.

Three phones belonging to policemen at the roadblock where the incident occurred have also been confiscated to aid in the investigation.

"We have seized the woman's clothing as proof of identification," he told a press conference at the police headquarters here today.

ACP Mohd Zaidi said that in the June 1 incident, police issued the woman a summons for expired road tax and insurance on her vehicle.





"However, the woman caused a stir and uttered words of a threat in nature.

"She said 'Kau siapa mahu saman saya? Nasib kau lelaki, kalau perempuan saya kasi telanjang kau dan rungkup kau’ (Who are you to summon me? Lucky you are a man, if you were a woman, I will strip you and pounce on you)," ACP Mohd Zaidi said.

He said the statements of a police officer and seven police constables and Rela personnel have been recorded.

He said the probe is being conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

"Our investigation is 80% complete and the woman has also given her cooperation since she was detained," he said, adding that a two-day remand order on the woman had been obtained.

According to ACP Mohd Zaidi, police will hand the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further action once the probe is completed.
