Scania vehicles sold in Malaysia ready to run on B10 biodiesel

PETALING JAYA: All vehicles sold by Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd can run on B10 biodiesel without further adaptation.

Normal warranty will apply when running on B10 diesel – which comprises 10% biodiesel and 90% regular diesel – which means there will be no impact to existing customers with regards to warranty.

There are no changes to the operational procedures or frequency of vehicle servicing. Also, there would be no additional costs incurred as no additional equipment is required for vehicles sold by Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to run on B10.

“Scania continues to be at the forefront of sustainable transport solutions," said Scania South-East Asia managing director Marie Sjödin Enström.

"Our wide range of alternative fuels have been in operation around the world for some time already and including in South-East Asia. Our customers continue to enjoy profitability while being environment-friendly in their operations through reduced CO2 emissions.”

At the recent Budget 2019 announcement, the Government announced the resumption of the stalled B10 biodiesel programme.

The B10 (from a mix of 10% palm methyl ester and 90% diesel) programme for the transportation sector would start next year, helping to clear the current high crude palm oil (CPO) stockpile, which has led to the poor CPO price performance.

The B10 programme is expected to absorb about 500,000-600,000 tonnes of CPO per year.
