Setel now takes the worry out of charging your EV

PETALING JAYA: Fuel epayment app Setel has announced a new feature for users to locate and activate electric vehicle charging stations through the app.

The company said users can start by using the Search icon on the app to find the nearest EV charging station and get directions.

They can tap on Start Charging and select an available charger that is compatible with their vehicle.

Activating the charger through the app also allows users to view the charging status and rates. An electronic receipt will be generated once the session is complete.

Payment will be deducted from the Setel wallet and users can also earn Mesra points with every transaction.

Setel CEO Mazlin Erawati Ab Manan said the new feature allow the company to showcase its efforts towards sustainability.

“It is both a product of listening to our customers and part of our long-term plan to continuously innovate for inclusive mobility, in support of the global efforts towards decarbonising road transport,” Mazlin said in a statement.

The company added that the new EV charging features on the app can be used at five pilot locations, namely Lotus’s Tecso Kepong, EV Connection Workshop in Petaling Jaya, Carsome PJ Automall, Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort in Penang and ACO Group headquarters in Johor Baru.

According to information on its website, charging price ranges from free to RM1.20 per minute.

More locations will be announced later.
