KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd has launched the first official Shell online store on e-commerce site Lazada Malaysia.
The Shell Malaysia Official Online Store aims to make Shell Helix motor oil more accessible to customers across Malaysia. Prices include delivery nationwide.
According to Shell Lubricants executive director (Southeast Asia & Oceania) Troy Chapman, Malaysia was the first market in the region to enable online purchase of Shell Helix products and service packages from an official channel.
“This is yet another initiative from Shell, which explains why we have been the number one lubricant supplier in the world for the past 10 consecutive years. We were the first motor oil brand to offer the Shell Helix Engine Warranty or S.H.E.W last year.
The Shell Malaysia Official Online Store is said to offer value for money engine oil service packages at selected authorised workshops in the Klang Valley and Johor.
These packages, from RM103, include Shell Helix oil, oil filter, labour and a complimentary 15-point vehicle check. In conjunction with the launch, shoppers at the Shell Malaysia Official Online Store will get an e-voucher from Lazada Malaysia worth up to RM30 for every purchase of Shell oil or oil service packages from Aug 3-10.
Car owners who buy an engine oil service package from the Shell Malaysia Official Online Store will be contacted by the official Shell distributor to arrange their preferred service venue, date and time slot followed by a confirmation via SMS.
The Shell Malaysia Official Online Store also provides access to product technical support to those seeking guidance on the Shell Helix motor oil that is best suited for their cars.
Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Hans-Peter Ressel said the Shell entry would benefit consumers as they now have better access to Shell Helix products.
He also said the site might start selling used or new cars and motorbikes within two years.
The Lazada platform is already hosting about one million automotive products, and that demand for them was increasing, he said.
“We are looking to add more products. Our sister company (Lazada Indonesia) has been selling motorcycles and we are considering that as well. But, we will still be focusing on accessories, because the demand is there,” he told reporters.
Ressel said the company would focus on fulfilling demand for vehicle parts before thinking of expanding into selling cars and motorcycles.
