KUALA LUMPUR: The Touch ‘n Go eWallet is one of three service providers that have been selected to participate in the RM450mil Government’s e-Tunai Rakyat programme, an initiative announced by the Ministry of Finance under Budget 2020.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd said today that the other two were GrabPay and Boost. The three companies are Malaysia’s largest and collectively provide a base for the rollout of e-Tunai Rakyat.

However, Touch ‘n Go eWallet is the largest of the trio. It has 110,000 merchant acceptance points across F&B, petrol stations, movies, flights, utilities and groceries. Users can also make payments for mobile reloads, in-app purchases like street parking and toll payment on selected toll highways via unique features such as PayDirect and RFID.

Under the e-Tunai Rakyat programme, Malaysians above 18 years old who earn less than RM100,000 annually will be entitled to receive RM30 per person through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

The campaign will start on Jan 15, 2020 and will run for two months until March 14. Claims can be made and fully used within the timeframe.

The Touch ‘n Go eWallet aims to make it easy to make cashless payments, said TNG Digital Sdn Bhd CEO Ignatius Ong.

"Parallel to educating consumers, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet encourages local businesses to advocate for the cashless way forward in shaping a thriving Malaysian economy."
