KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Sime Motors aims to instill confidence in pre-owned electric vehicles (EVs) ownership with its own certified vehicle programme.
Every vehicle under the BYD Certified programme is professionally inspected, backed by verified battery health assessments, warranty coverage, financing solutions, and aftersales support.
Guided by its promise to Drive Pre-Owned with Confidence, the programme is said to deliver greater transparency, reliability and long-term value at every stage of ownership.
The certification is built upon five assurance pillars:
170 points of inspection – Each car undergoes a comprehensive professional inspection process.
Mileage promise – Only vehicles with mileage below 100,000 km qualify for certification.
Vehicle age not exceeding four years – Certified vehicles must not exceed 4 years of age and must meet defined mileage thresholds:
1 year / ≤30,000 km
2 years / ≤60,000 km
3 years / ≤90,000 km
4 years / ≤100,000 km
Certified clean history – Guaranteed free from major accidents, with no fire damage, no flood damage, and no odometer tampering.
Original manufacturer parts – Refurbishment is carried out using genuine BYD parts and approved repair standards.
BYD Malaysia managing director (MD) Jacob Ma commented that the programme represents an important step in making EV ownership more accessible to Malaysians.
"We are seeing growing interest from customers seeking quality pre-owned vehicles backed by assurance and professional support as the EV market continues to mature.
"We are extending the BYD ownership experience to a wider audience through BYD Certified, while reinforcing our commitment to supporting customers throughout their entire EV journey, beyond just the vehicle itself,” said Ma.
BYD Sime Motors MD Adeline Lew followed up by saying the programme is built on rigorous quality standards and transparent vehicle verification.
"Every certified pre-owned BYD undergoes a comprehensive inspection by trained technicians and is supported by verified vehicle history records, battery health assessments and warranty coverage.
"The programme also provides existing BYD owners with a trusted trade-in platform, making it easier to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting stronger long-term ownership value,” added Yew.
Beyond vehicle certification, customers are also said to enjoy a range of exclusive ownership benefits designed to enhance convenience, ownership value and overall peace of mind:
5-Day buy-back assurance – Customers are entitled to a full buy-back at the original purchase price if undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage is identified within 5 days of delivery.
Nationwide authorised sales, service and spare parts (3S) dealer support – Peace of mind with service and warranty coverage across BYD’s authorised 3S dealer network in Malaysia.
Trusted trade-in platform for existing BYD owners – Existing BYD owners can trade in their vehicles with transparent evaluations and a trusted programme, making it easier to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting long-term ownership value.
The launch of BYD Certified saw the completion of its first customer delivery with the handover of a pre-owned BYD Atto 3.
The same event also marked the establishment of the first BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region which is located at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie.
Customers can now visit the outlet where selected certified pre-owned BYD models are available subject to stock availability.
The outlet offers a complete one-stop experience encompassing vehicle purchase, certification verification, trade-in services, financing solutions that includes exclusive BYD Certified financing rates from as low as 2.03% (terms and conditions apply), warranty support and aftersales care.
