SERDANG: Smart Malaysia today previewed the smart #5, marking the brand's entry into the premium mid-size electric SUV segment, and officially opened bookings for the exclusive smart #1 Brabus Limited Edition.
The smart #5 is positioned as a major milestone for the brand, designed for all-terrain exploration and modern lifestyles.
It features a bold, boxy silhouette with a panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, and short front and rear overhangs.
At 4,695mm in length and with a 2,900mm wheelbase, the SUV projects a strong road presence and muscular lines. Exterior details include dual-tone side mirrors, wheels with a floating smart logo, and unique "easter egg" design flourishes.
Inside, the smart #5 is tailored for comfort and versatility.
A one-button Comfort Mode adjusts the co-driver and rear seat for relaxation, while oak wood accents, ambient lighting with 256 colour options, and the ability to fold the rear seats flat into a king-size in-car suite enhance luxury.
The SUV also offers 1,530 litres of rear storage, a 72-litre front trunk (frunk), and 34 smart compartments for added practicality.
The cockpit is powered by an AMD V2000 chip running smart OS on Unreal Engine, delivering a seamless digital experience through a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display and dual 13-inch Amoled screens.
The AI-powered avatar, Leo, responds to voice commands, and a 20-speaker Sennheiser Signature Sound System with an ambient lift-up speaker provides immersive audio.
Built on state-of-the-art EV architecture, the smart #5 features a 100kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 590km.
The 800V fast-charging system enables the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes.
For off-road adventures, the vehicle includes Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, and Adaptive driving modes, as well as a built-in 3.3kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet for powering electronics or appliances during outdoor activities.
The smart #5 competes with Kia EV6, Hyunai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y.
Alongside the smart #5, smart Malaysia has opened bookings for the smart #1 Brabus Limited Edition, developed together with Brabus Kuala Lumpur.
This model features a custom aerodynamic kit with front and rear spoilers, front fascia inserts, and a rear diffuser.
It sits lower on sport springs that reduce the ride height by 35mm for improved handling, and rides on 19-inch Brabus Monoblock Z wheels with a bold 10-spoke design.
The cabin is enhanced with Brabus-red stitching, piping, special finishes, backlit Brabus scuff plates, and aluminium pedal pads.
Official pricing for the smart #1 Brabus Limited Edition will be announced by June.
Visitors who book any smart vehicle at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 will receive perks, including early access test drives for the smart #5, a complimentary Brabus bodykit upgrade for selected smart #1 Brabus bookings, a 10% cash rebate, and four years of free service for the smart #1 and smart #3 models, subject to terms and conditions.
