Smooth CNY traffic on major expressways despite increase in vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on several main expressways on Tuesday night was reported to be smooth despite slow movement towards the southern region and east coast due to the higher volume of vehicles.
A spokesman from the Malaysian Highway Authority, when contacted by Bernama, said that as of 11.15pm, traffic was slow moving on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway.
The congestion was particularly noticeable from Gombak heading towards Genting Sempah (KM 24.5-KM 36.9), Bukit Tinggi (KM 44.2-KM 45.3), and towards Lentang (KM50-KM52.4), primarily due to the increased volume of vehicles.
In the southern region, traffic was reported to be slow-moving at the Johor Causeway, with congestion observed at the Woodlands Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Singapore heading towards the Sultan Iskandar Building CIQ in Johor, as a result of the high number of vehicles entering Johor Baru from Singapore.
Slow-moving traffic was also reported on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, particularly at the rest and service area between Simpang Renggam and Machap.
"However, overall traffic flow across major expressways, including the PLUS expressway in the northern, central, and southern regions, remains smooth and under control. A similar situation has been reported on expressways around the Klang Valley,” he added.
