Smoother drive along Jalan Ipoh-Tg Malim

IPOH: Two stretches of road along FT001 or Jalan Ipoh-Tanjung Malim in Tanjung Malim have been resurfaced to ensure better driving conditions for motorists.

Muallim Public Works Department (JKR) district engineer Yussaime Ahmad Yusuf said the works involved about 750m of road between Section 470 and 470.65.

Yussaime said the works were completed recently using the mill-and-pave method with crumb rubber modified asphalt.

“The technology involves reusing old tyres by including these into the premix.

“With this method, the roads are more resistant and lasting,” he said, adding that the department started using the crumb rubber modified asphalt from last year,” he added.

“This will make it safer and better to drive on for road users.”

According to studies, the use of crumb rubber into the premix improves the high-temperature stability and low-temperature of the asphalt.

This would improve the durability and service life of pavement.

The usage of crumb rubber is also considered a smart solution for sustainability by reusing waste materials.

Separately, Yussaime said two solar LED street lights had been installed at Kampung Bantang in Slim Village.

He said the street lights were set up at a dangerous corner of a road at the village.

“We carried out a check at several locations and found that the village road does not have any street lights.

“We applied for some allocation to instal the street lights to ensure the safety of road users there,” he said
