KUALA LUMPUR: Solar company Verdant Solar has announced a Tesla Model Y giveaway when Malaysians install a residential solar panel installation with the company.

This is the first recorded Tesla Model Y giveaway in Malaysia, which is valued at RM204,00 and comes in a Midnight Silver Metallic hue.

The Model Y, launched in Malaysia in July, is available in three variants. The giveaway is the base version, which is rear-wheel drive and has a WLTP range of 455km. It can go from 0-100kph in 6.9s and has a top speed of 217kph.

Verdant Solar said the move to give away an electric car was aimed at driving solar energy adoption in homes.

Verdant Solar said it has deployed over 18 megawatts peak (MWP) of solar panels, an amount equivalent to powering 2,000 households.

This has resulted in an annual reduction of 15,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and annual savings exceeding RM12 million in electricity costs, it said.
