SUBANG JAYA: Proton has delivered 999 units of the latest X50 to early customers nationwide in five days following the official launch of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) on July 24.
The national car maker said some 2,000 units have rolled off the Tanjung Malim production line by end of July, ensuring sales momentum remains high in the coming weeks and months.
Proton Edar deputy chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the company had received tremendous support from potential car buyers who were impressed by the features offered.

As a result, he said Proton garnered 5,000 bookings in just 10 days before the price was revealed.
"Cumulatively, we have now received 8,000 bookings as at the end of July," he said.
Zhang said the company's commitment to keep production levels high had ensured the waiting time for customers is kept to a minimum.

With over 140,000 units sold since its launch in October 2020, the X50 nameplate is the most popular B-segment SUV in Malaysia.
Proton is building on that success by widening its product appeal through targeting a more youthful market segment.
The national car maker is achieving new successes by collaborating with local artists and influencers, as well as composing a song together with singing group De Fam, who performed it live and debuted the accompanying music video at the launch event.

The finale event will be held on Sunday, Aug 3, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, where the inaugural Anugerah Pilihan Proton X50 Superstar will reward the winner with a brand-new X50.
