Soon you'll be able to connect to the Internet by satellite while in a car, bus or RV
By ETX DAILY UP | 27 October 2022AUSTIN: Starlink is about to add a new high-speed, low-latency mobile Internet kit to its offering, wherever its satellites offer active coverage.
Beware though, the bill could be high. According to US website The Verge, the hardware required and installation alone could cost a total of up to nearly US$2,500 (RM11,789) and the monthly subscription is US$135 (RM637) for the United States, while in Europe the monthly fee for RVs is €100 (RM473).
This price should give users a high-quality connection, even in very remote places and in less than ideal conditions.
By connecting simultaneously to several satellites, this solution offers constant connectivity during any trip. The idea is to be able to stay connected in one's car, van or RV essentially everywhere.
Earlier this year, Starlink received the go-ahead from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to transmit in moving vehicles. In the wake of this, Starlink expressed its intention to install its technology in school buses in rural, underserved areas. Now, it's going directly to individual customers.
The standard Starlink kit is not designed for use on the move, but only when parked, including in remote areas.
