SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recorded 4,700 units sold in January 2026, supported by a broad and well-established product line-up.
The company said the result reflects steady market response across Toyota’s core segments, shaped by a wide ownership base and a continued focus on long-term value rather than short-term cycles.
“Chinese New Year is a time of renewal and togetherness, and for many Malaysians it also involves travelling to be with family,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K.

Recent developments across Toyota’s range reflect continued progress under its multi-pathway approach.
The introduction of the GR Corolla with automatic transmission makes performance more accessible, while the recent launch of the Vios hybrid electric brings electrified mobility.
Supporting this expansion is UMWT’s investment in a local hybrid battery assembly facility at its Bukit Raja plant.
Capable of assembling up to 30,000 hybrid battery units annually, the facility strengthens supply resilience and supports the scalable adoption of hybrid vehicles in Malaysia.
The introduction of the Toyota Extend programme in December 2025 provides eligible customers with greater long-term assurance through extended warranty coverage beyond the standard period.
Available for selected models, Toyota Extend supports ownership confidence and vehicle value retention through authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide.
In conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive period, UMW Toyota Motor is offering a range of festive promotions across selected Toyota models.
The promotions offer benefits valued at up to RM9,500 and monthly instalments starting from RM658.
Ownership affordability is further enhanced through the Toyota Service Savers programme, with cost-effective maintenance options from RM33 per month.
