JOHOR BARU: Sun Bus Tech now offers a starting salary of RM4,000 for skilled workers and has signed a Note of Understanding (NoU) with Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC).
In a statement, the bus body manufacturer based in Iskandar Puteri said it has partnered with JTDC to provide hands-on practical training that bridges education with real industry needs.
The Sun Bus Tech and JTDC partnership not only provides tuition support but also grants access to industrial exposure, on-the-job training at Sun Bus Tech’s facility, and a guaranteed career pathway upon graduation.
At the NoU signing ceremony, Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin stated, "Sun Bus Tech’s commitment to providing structured training and competitive salaries is an excellent example of how local industries can take the lead in building a stronger future for Johor."
Sun Bus Tech CEO Shyan Phang said, "We believe a company’s strength lies in its people. Through this initiative, we are creating opportunities for young talents to gain industry exposure, hands-on training, and a clear career pathway."

Sun Bus Tech specialises in constructing high-quality bus bodies for both conventional and electric vehicles.
Sun Bus Tech is part of the diversified Sun Wah Group, which has investments spanning agriculture, manufacturing, and strategic ventures.
In its statement, Sun Bus Tech said the company's journey began in the 1970s when founder Phang Sun Wah first ventured into the bus industry by launching a coachwork fabrication business.
This early experience laid the groundwork for a larger venture, which he co-founded in 1989, focusing on bus and bus body manufacturing in Senai, Johor.
Sun Bus Tech’s expertise lies in crafting bus bodies tailored to various chassis configurations.
The company offers a range of 360-degree solutions covering every stage of the vehicle lifecycle — from design and construction to maintenance and digital platforms for real-time fleet monitoring.
Sun Bus Tech’s initiatives include advanced battery recycling programs that support a circular economy and minimise environmental impact.
Within 12 months since its inception, Sun Bus Tech has achieved notable milestones including a strategic collaboration with Carrosserie HESS AG, making it the first Malaysian company to integrate HESS’s cutting-edge European safety and engineering technologies.
