System maintenance caused wrong picture to appear on digital driving licence, says JPJ

PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) confirmed that there are no elements of system abuse or identity theft in the case of a Malaysian Digital Driving License (e-LMM) featuring a photo of a person with a different identity than the one named on the licence.

In a statement issued today, JPJ said the matter occurred when the information technology team carried out system maintenance work, which was done periodically, to ensure the sustainability of the MyJPJ system.

JPJ takes note of and apologised for the issue and said that it had acted immediately to rectify it. JPJ also gave its assurances that all information is protected and safe.

"JPJ will continuously improve the system from time to time to strengthen the delivery of the best digital services to the people," the statement read.
