Terengganu JPJ collects more than RM700,000 through compound discount
By BERNAMA | 01 October 2020KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Road Transport Department (JPJ) has collected RM759,541 in traffic summonses following the 70 per cent compound reduction offered since Aug 3.
Its director, Zulkarnain Yasin, said the amount involved payments collected on various traffic offences including expired road tax, offences recorded under the automated Awareness Security System (Awas) and driving without a competent driving licence.
"According to statistics, a total of RM575,143 was collected in August while the remaining RM184,398 in traffic summonses payment was recorded in September,” he told reporters after the Road Safety Advocacy Programme with food delivery riders at the state JPJ headquarters here today.
On the programme, Zulkarnain said it was held to increase awareness on road safety regulations among food delivery riders in the state.
He said the programme was held in collaboration with three companies providing food delivery services in Terengganu, namely Food Panda, Grab Food and Oda Makan involving 270 registered food delivery riders.
"Through the operation codenamed Op Food Rider conducted by JPJ from Sept 1 to Sept 10, many food delivery riders on duty were found to have failed to comply with the law and traffic rules,” he added.
