Tesla in Malaysia delivers Model Y to first buyers

CYBERJAYA: Tesla has begun local deliveries of the long-awaited electric SUV Model Y this week.

Customers took delivery of their Model Y at Tesla’s Cyberjaya Experience Centre with more deliveries coming.

Aside from Model Y, Tesla's Model 3 are also officially available in Malaysia.

The Model Y is the world’s best-selling electric SUV and among the safest cars on the road with perfect 5-star ratings from NHTSA.

Like every Tesla vehicle, Model Y is designed for safety with combination of range, performance, and technology.

Being a mid-size SUV, Model Y has over 2,100 litres cargo space which provides versatile seating and storage for up to 5 passengers with their belongings.

Offered in three variants, the entry Model Y (Rear-Wheel Drive) is priced at RM200,700 (excluding registration) gets a WLTP range of 455km, a top speed of 217kph, a 0-100kh sprint of 6.9 seconds and 19-inch Gemini or 20-inch Induction wheels.

The RM247,700 mid-range Model Y Long Range, gets dual motors for all-wheel drive (AWD), has a longer WLTP range of 533km, a top speed of 217kph, a 0-100kph dash of 5 seconds and 19-inch Gemini or 20-inch Induction wheels.

Meanwhile, the RM289,700 top variant Model Y Performance also comes with dual motors and AWD, a WLTP range of 515km, a top speed of 250kph, a 0-100kph acceleration of 3.7 seconds and 21-inch Uberturbine wheels.

Other Model Y features include all-glass roof, autopilot, active safety features and HEPA air filtration system.

The public can now experience both Model Y and Model 3 at Tesla’s experience centres in Cyberjaya and Pavilion Damansara Heights.

Tesla will further develop its sales, after-sales service and charging support in the country as to provide a convenient and seamless Tesla ownership experience.

As of today, Tesla has opened and operated six Supercharging stations and eight Destination Charging stations in Malaysia; offering a total of 30 Superchargers and 37 Destination Chargers in major cities.

Tesla will continue building more charging infrastructures and expanding charging coverage in Malaysia.
