Thailand International Motor Expo 2017: MG ZS smart SUV

BANGKOK: British car brand MG has pulled the cover off its ZS smart sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the this year's 34th Thailand International Motor Expo.

The  679,000 Bhat (RM86,000) SUV takes aim at young individuals with an active lifestyle, while featuring a 1.5-litre engine under the hood as well as an innovative i-SMART system that accepts Thai-language for its voice command - a world's first.

The engine produces 114hp at 6,000rpm and 150Nm of torque at 4,500rpm while mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

The ZS boasts of LED rear light cluster, panoramic sunroof and bi-colour 17-inch alloy wheels for the exterior.

Inside, the cabin features  a two-tone interior combined with soft-touch materials on the door panels and console, circular jet-turbine air vents and an information display on the dashboard.

The rear seats are 60:40 split foldable, while the boot's floor can be lowered or raised by 10mm for greater practicality.

The i-SMART system can be operated via Thai-language voice command, the touch screen  on the console as well as the i-SMART application for smartphones.

The driver is able to control the climate controls from the smartphone, search for destinations including hotels, fuel stations and restaurants through the smart navigator, or check the latest traffic with real-time information.

The system is also able to learn a driver's behaviour and adapt accordingly with the use artificial intelligence (AI) which corresponds to the Internet of Things concept.

Additionally, the i-SMART system also collects data and informs the driver about fuel level, battery level, condition of the engine and brakes as well as theft.

For safety, the ZS comes equipped with the company's Synchronised Protection System consisting of nine safety equipment such as six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic brake assist, curve brake control, stability control system, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency stop signal, reverse camera and parking sensors.

The show will open its doors to the public from Nov 30 to Dec 11 at Impact Arena, Muangthong Thani from 12pm to 10pm daily.
