The Hino Poncho minibus for the disabled

PETALING JAYA: Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has introduced the Hino Poncho minibus public transport vehicle that is feature-friendly for disabled people or Person with Disability (PWD).

Equipped with an ultra low-floor system, the minibus can go as as close to the ground making it easy to board. The Hino Poncho is designed with a height adjusting system that lower or raise the vehicle.

It can be lowered by as much as 50mm for boarding and alighting and it can also be raised up to 30mm for improved driving on rough roads.

A test ride of Hino Poncho with PWDs passengers from Persatuan Sokongan Orang Kurang Upaya Johor Bahru was held on July 9, 2020 in Johor Baru.

One of the passengers was visually impaired Mohd Saiful Razali, who commented that the low-floor feature made it easy for him to board the minibus.

Another passenger, Ermy Jeffry Jamil, who uses a wheelchair said the low floor feature that comes with a slide ramp was convenient for him to hop on and off the bus.

When it goes into operation, the Hino Poncho will be the first of its kind in Malaysia dedicated for PWDs.
