The new Ford Capri: From cult classic to electric SUV

The new Capri combines athletic performance with modern electric capabilities, offering a driving range of up to 627km and fast-charging options.
The car retains the sporty appeal of the original, now equipped with a spacious 572-litre boot, making it suitable for family getaways.
The original Capri, a cult classic released in 1969, sold over 400,000 units in its first two years and more than 1.8 million across three generations until 1986.
The new Capri, redesigned with modern technology, maintains the classic design cues such as the four headlamps and the swooping coupe roofline, now updated with signature LED lights and a black graphic.
The car is available in bold colours, including Vivid Yellow, enhancing its unconventional character.
The new Capri features intelligent technologies that assist with automated lane changes and cyclist detection when opening doors.
High specification is standard, including heated front seats and steering wheel, a driver’s seat massage function, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and a stylish soundbar.
The Capri Premium model adds ambient lighting, a 10-speaker B&O Sound System, and a hands-free tailgate.
The interior of the new Capri is designed to be digital and minimalist, featuring a wrap-around cockpit and sculptured sports seats with integrated headrests.
The SYNC Move system allows the driver to adjust the 14.6-inch touchscreen's angle and offers configurable home screens, voice activation, connected navigation, and wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The car also includes a dedicated compartment for smartphones with a wireless charger and a secure storage space known as My Private Locker.
The new Capri offers a choice of all-electric powertrains.
The rear-wheel-drive version delivers 286 PS and has an extended range lithium-ion NMC battery, providing up to 627km of driving range, with 10-80 percent fast charging in about 28 minutes.
It can accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.4 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive version offers 340 PS, a range of up to 592km, and faster acceleration from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds.
Both versions benefit from access to over 600,000 BlueOval Charge Network points and feature an EV trip planner for efficient routing.
The Capri is equipped with advanced driver assistance technologies supported by 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras, and three radar devices that provide 360-degree monitoring.
Standard features include Blind Spot Information System, Clear Exit Warning, Cross Traffic Alert with Active Braking, Driver Alert, Evasive Steering Assist, parking sensors, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keeping Aid, Pre-Collision Assist, Rear-View Camera, Reverse Brake Assist, Selectable Drive Modes, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Wrong Way Alert.
Extra goodies for the higher grade Capri include Dynamic Matrix LED headlights with Glare-Free Highbeam and an optional Driver Assist Pack, which includes Active Park Assist, Lane Centering, Assisted Lane Change, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display.
