BERLIN: Surely some mistake? The latest model from Brabus, the German tuning house known for its luxury cars on steroids, has powerhouse specs (12.8 litres of displacement, 530hp and 2,600Nm of torque), yet it can only reach a maximum of 90kph.
Anyone studying the data sheet of the latest Brabus might be a little taken aback at these stats, but here's the rub: This is not another of their heavily tuned Mercedes off-road vehicles or luxury saloons.
It's based on an Actros heavy goods truck of the kind you can see on any highway in Europe. Brabus has turned one into the ultimate motorhome.
For a price of some €1.5 million (RM7.2mil/US$1.6mil), Brabus puts a thermally-insulated aluminium composite body on the truck's sturdy frame that offers more than 30 square metres of living space.

The colossal rig named Brabus Big Boy 1200 is sprayed black, which gives it a menacing look and would probably make this an ideal mobile command centre for a dictator or villain.
Inside it is fitted out handsomely, with a seating area for at least six people, a kitchen with a ceramic hob, oven, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and a cooled compartment for wine.
In the sanitary area, opposite the double washbasin, there is a shower and a separate toilet, and in the fancy bedroom at the rear there is a 2.6-metre wide bed and plenty of cupboard space.

The bodywork is weather-proof and air-conditioning ensures pleasant conditions inside. The windows have integrated roller shades and there are powered skylights on the roof.
Connectivity is state-of-the-art with a Starlink satellite dish and a wi-fi router. A pair of 43-inch televisions, a Sony PS5 gaming console and a high-end audio system help the owner and guests to while away the time on the road.
Prospective owners will need an ample bank account and patience since the rig is built to order. To pilot the Big Boy, the driver also needs a truck licence.
