TNG RFID fuelling services suspended at Shell stations pending upgrade

PETALING JAYA: Touch 'n Go (TNG) RFID fuelling services at Shell stations have been suspended since Feb 2 for an upgrade.

This was a fact Shell Malaysia only communicated on its website two months later on March 29.

Initially introduced in 2022, the system was aimed to be installed at 200 stations across the nation by year's end. Details about the nature of the upgrade were not disclosed by either Shell or TNG.

During the suspension, Shell Malaysia has advised customers that they can continue to pay for fuel using cash, debit cards, credit cards, and e-wallets. It recommended using the Shell App for added convenience during this period without RFID services.

TNG has indicated that the upgrade is nearing completion and that the RFID payment facilities will soon be reactivated. However, specific details or timelines have not been provided.

Once the RFID system is back online, TNG plans to notify all registered users via SMS and email to inform them that they can resume using the service.
