A statement from the company hinted in general terms of what is in store for Toyota in future but we all know what that is already.
Earlier this year, Toyota had declared to the world that it is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050, and it plans to achieve that with a series of "green" cars that include fuel cell cars, plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars.
And locally we are aware that the Toyota distributor is interested to assemble hybrids as it transitions towards electric mobility that has already been set in motion by other car makers.
This makes the Corolla Cross Hybrid all the more plausible. The combustion-engined Corolla Cross is selling well in Malaysia and it would make sense for UMW Toyota to offer another variant that heralds the future of mobility. Besides, the hybrid variant is already on sale in Thailand and Indonesia. So it's about time, it lands in the country between both.
