SEPANG: UMW Toyota Motor, has officially launched the 2026 Toyota GR (Gazoo Racing) Corolla with an automatic transmission (AT) for Malaysia.
Priced on-the-road without insurance at RM378,950, the car is now available in Malaysia through selected GR Garage dealerships nationwide and is said to be supported by a comprehensive aftersales services and Toyota’s quality assurance.
It is touted to have been designed for those who enjoy the thrill of a motorsports developed car but prefer the ease and confidence of an automatic. This is achieved by combining high-performance engineering with intuitive control and everyday use without compromising the authentic GR driving character.
Equipped with an eight-speed GR Direct Automatic Transmission (8AT GR-DAT), the car boasts of fast and precise shifts developed through motorsports while offering a smooth and confident daily driving experience - all packaged within the convenience and practicality of a five-door hatchback.
Also included in the mix are updates to the GR Corolla range, with both variants now getting a larger 10-inch display screen.
Additionally, the fourth model in Toyota's GR series now comes with a new driving dimension for with 'Drive' mode providing smooth acceleration with intelligent gear selection, while 'Sport' mode sharpens throttle response and throws in a more aggressive shift-logic for the 8AT during spirited driving moments.
There's also a sequential-style 'M-mode' that enhances driver involvement, and the inclusion of Launch Start Control which enables drivers to launch the car optimally off the line from a standing start.
To round it all off, the suspension and anti-lock braking system have also been refined for added stability and cornering performance. Ultimately this leads to faster lap times despite no changes to the engine's performance.
"Toyota Gazoo Racing pushes every GR car to its limits, and the GR Corolla carries that same intensity on the road and from the very beginning, it has been about delivering the raw feel, response and intensity of a race-bred machine," said UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K.
Ravindran added that such an experience is now "more accessible, without compromising its GR character" with the GR Corolla AT.
