It joins the Kinto-exclusive GR Yaris "Morizo Selection" in gaining upgrades that are translated directly from Toyota's participation in motorsports.
The variants of GR Yaris eleigible for the upgrades are RZ, RZ "High Performance" and RC only. It is not available for the RS version.
The upgrade boosts the GR Yaris torque from 370Nm to 390Nm through a "GR Yaris Performance Software 2.0" installation.
Customers who pay for this upgrade can also enjoy personalised software settings for optimally tailored performance.
In addition to the existing method of providing personalisation based on analysis of customer driving data, Kinto Factory customers can now receive personalisation through consultation at GR Garage locations across Japan, making it easier for customers to benefit from a tailored driving experience.
Toyota said the Kinto channel is aimed at forging a closer bond between customers and their cars. It sees upgrades and personalisation as the key to do so.
Toyota launched the Kinto Factory service in Japan in January this year, offering owners of selected older models the chance to get upgrades that can take the form of a performance boost, a refreshed interior or the addition of the latest safety aids in their cars.
