TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corporation has started sales of its latest Crown Estate model in Japan today, marking a significant milestone in the automaker’s ongoing legacy of innovation and refinement.
The launch forms part of the all-new Crown series, which celebrates 70 years of continuous evolution alongside Japan’s economic growth.
Built on the flexible TNGA platform and developed through Toyota’s unique in-house company system, the Crown Estate is the fourth model introduced into a coordinated product cluster that now includes crossover, sport, and sedan variants.
The Crown Estate combines the traditional dignity of the Crown lineage with modern functionality, encapsulated in what Toyota terms a Mature Active Cabin.
The exterior, shaped by the GA-K platform, features crisp shoulder lines and a bumper-integrated grille with a subtly graduated mesh pattern that underscores its refined aesthetic.
Prominent 21-inch alloy wheels and dynamic proportions further accentuate its stylish presence on the road.
Inside, the vehicle adopts an island architecture layout, grouping essential controls and displays in a centralised configuration to minimise driver distraction.
Accented by vintage-inspired cloud patterns in Saddle Tan and Grayish Blue, the cabin balances high quality with an eye-catching design.
A variety of monotone and bi-tone body colours, including an exclusive option for the plug-in hybrid variant, further tailor the Estate to diverse lifestyles.
The model is available in both hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, underscoring Toyota’s commitment to enhanced efficiency and performance. The 2.5-litre hybrid system delivers an impressive increase in power output — about 50% higher than its counterparts in the Crown Crossover and Sport models — ensuring a smooth and responsive drive even under load.
The plug-in variant benefits from a high-density lithium-ion battery, which enables a BEV-mode range of 89km, catering well to daily commuting needs.
Functionality is a key focus, with the Crown Estate offering an innovative luggage space that expands from 570 to 1,470 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.
An all-new extension board mechanism creates a completely level two-metre-long cargo area, complemented by integrated pull-out deck accessories for enhanced comfort during outdoor activities.
Additionally, finely tuned suspension settings, including customised Dynamic Rear Steering and Adaptive Variable Suspension systems, guarantee a relaxed yet agile ride over long distances.
The HEV is priced from 6.4 million yen (RM191,000), while the PHEV retails from 8.1 million yen (RM243,000).
