KULAI: The driver of a white pickup truck which was seen in a viral video colliding into a Lamborghini that was part of a convoy has been arrested by the police here.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the 28-year-old woman was detained at about 1am today at the Kulai police headquarters.
"The suspect surrendered herself to the police. A remand order has been obtained against the suspect from the Kulai magistrate's court.
"She will be remanded for three days starting from Monday (today) until Wednesday," he said in a statement here today.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
A video showing a fleet of supercars stopping along KM34 of the North-South Expressway near Sedenak went viral on social media recently.
The video showed heavy traffic along the highway, and the white Ford Ranger pick-up truck forced its way between cars, causing many to swerve to avoid the vehicle.
However, despite a green Lamborghini moving aside, the truck driver swerved and hit the supercar broadside. The supercar is believed to be an Aventador SVJ, a model launched globally in 2018.
In a statement today, Supt Tok said initial investigations revealed the incident occurred at about 6.10pm on March 18.
He said the truck was being driven in a zig-zag pattern when the collision occurred.
"This led to a scuffle between the two drivers and the convoy of luxury vehicles decided to stop in the middle of the road," he said.
