Two cars set ablaze near KL condo, evidence point to arson

KUALA LUMPUR: Two cars were set ablaze near a condominium along Jalan Putramas 1 here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm S. Shanmugamoorthy said the incident at a parking lot outside the condominium occurred early today.

"We received information about the incident at around 4.38am and dispatched personnel to the scene.

"Initial investigations revealed residents noticed the two vehicles had caught fire and notified security guards on duty," he said in a statement on Monday.

He added that the Fire and Rescue Department, who were at the scene earlier, managed to control the fire by 4.30am.

"Investigations revealed there was a criminal element involved as Fire and Rescue Department forensic investigators found an oil-like substance residue on the burnt vehicles.

He said the owners of both vehicles have yet to lodge reports on the matter.

"There were no CCTVs in the area," he said, adding that the case was being investigated as arson.
