Two people per car limit can be increased to three in case of medical emergencies, says Ismail Sabri
By THE STAR | 30 May 2021PETALING JAYA: The two-person per car limit can be increased to three people in the case of medical emergencies, seeking healthcare services and medical attention, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister (Security) had said that only up to two people per car would be allowed to travel to buy daily necessities and medication during the 14-day total lockdown starting on June 1.
Ismail Sabri had also said travel will only be allowed for two people including the driver in a 10km radius within homes to acquire daily necessities.
"However, three people will be allowed to travel in a car if the purpose of travelling is to acquire healthcare services, medical attention and emergencies," he said.
The Government announced today that all economic and social activities will not be allowed to operate during the 14-day total lockdown except for 17 essential services.
Ismail also said the e-hailing service will be allowed to operate and the two-person per car rule will apply.
Airports and seaports will be allowed to operate, said Ismail Sabri, adding that land and sea transportation is allowed to operate at a 50% capacity.
Bus and vans that transport employees will be allowed to operate at a 50% capacity, he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also said commercial vehicles and vehicles carrying essential goods are allowed to operate, subjected to the respective licences and registration of the vehicle.
Government department vehicles and official cars will be allowed to operate based on the passenger capacity of the vehicle, he added.
