Tyre shop worker killed while inflating tyre, another injured
By THE STAR | 03 May 2024PETALING JAYA: Call this a freak accident. A man was killed and his colleague was badly injured at a tyre shop in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, after they were trying to inflate a tractor tyre.
The tyre exploded during the process, killing a 19-year-old worker, while injuring his 21-year-old colleague.
Both men were found lying on the ground and covered in blood. A photo of the duo on the floor had gone viral on social media.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the incident occurred at 12.40pm on Thursday.
"The incident occurred at a tyre shop in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh.
“The two men, who worked at the shop, were trying to inflate a tractor tyre when it exploded," he said in a statement today.
The injured worker was rushed to Hospital Sungai Buloh and was listed in critical condition.
Supt Mohd Hafiz said the passing of the other worker has been classified as sudden death.
