SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) sold 5,814 units in March 2026, bringing year-to-date sales to 15,370 units.
UMWT says the performance reflects sustained demand through the first quarter of the year, supported by ongoing promotional activities, consistent customer engagement, and the strength of Toyota’s nationwide ownership ecosystem.
"Despite an increasingly competitive market environment, UMWT continues to maintain its position as the leading non-national automotive brand, anchored by a product line-up that balances everyday usability, efficiency, and long-term ownership value," said the company.
UMWT continues to advance its multi-pathway approach as part of its broader electrification journey, expanding mobility choices in line with evolving market needs.
UMWT recently introduced three battery electric vehicles (BEVs), namely the Toyota bZ4X, Hilux BEV, and Urban Cruiser BEV, reflecting a range that spans passenger, commercial, and urban mobility needs.
UMWT also introduced the Toyota Harrier 2.5 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), reinforcing its presence in the premium SUV (sport utility vehicle) segment.

Now offered as a hybrid-only variant in Malaysia, the Harrier reflects Toyota’s continued shift towards electrified solutions in higher segments.
Built on the TNGA-K platform, it delivers a refined and quiet driving experience, paired with a self-charging hybrid system that balances performance with improved efficiency.
“The automotive industry is entering a period of real transition, with new technologies advancing quickly while expectations around reliability, cost of ownership, and long-term usability remain unchanged,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K.
“For customers, the shift towards new technologies is only meaningful when it translates clearly into everyday use. What continues to matter is how a vehicle performs over time. It must remain reliable in daily use and manageable to own."
"Above all, it must reliably support customers’ needs year after year. Our responsibility is to ensure that progress consistently delivers real value in practice. We will steadily introduce electrification solutions at the right pace, in a way that is practical for Malaysian conditions,” he added.

In addition, the Toyota GR Yaris receives a global update, bringing motorsports-derived enhancements to Malaysia.
A key update includes a GR-exclusive leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, engineered with a slightly smaller diameter and revised switch layout to improve operability and control during spirited driving.
Drawing from motorsports insights, the independently arranged steering-wheel-mounted switches enhance precision and ease of use, allowing drivers to maintain focus on steering inputs.
Also, UMWT continues to strengthen its ownership ecosystem through the Toyota Extra Mile initiative.
Guided by six pillars - Extra Rewards, Extra Protection, Extra Convenience, Extra Peace of Mind, Extra Security, and Extra Care - the initiative reflects Toyota’s continued focus on building long-term customer trust.
This is further supported by Toyota’s nationwide network of more than 100 service centres.
Complementing this are Toyota Service Savers and Toyota Extend, which continue to provide customers with greater cost predictability and convenience.
UMWT also continues to enhance its digital ecosystem through the Toyota MY App, aimed at improving convenience and encouraging greater engagement with aftersales services.
From April to June 2026, customers who download and register on the app will receive 500 Loyal-T Points, with an additional 500 points awarded upon completing a service booking via authorised Toyota service centres.
These points can be redeemed for service vouchers.
“Beyond the product itself, ownership remains just as important. Customers expect consistent support, ease of maintenance, and confidence throughout their ownership journey. This is where our ecosystem continues to play a critical role, from after-sales support to digital integration, ensuring a seamless experience at every stage. Guided by our commitment to Mobility for All, we will continue to deliver solutions that are dependable, accessible, and relevant to how Malaysians live and drive,” Ravindran K. added.
UMW Toyota Motor is offering ongoing promotional packages across selected models.
These offers include savings of up to RM7,500, along with flexible financing plans.
