SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recorded 6,464 units sold in April 2026, bringing its year-to-date sales to 21,924 units.
UMWT said the performance builds on a busy start to the year, marked by continued product activity, stronger electrified mobility presence, and ongoing efforts to provide customers with mobility choices that suit different lifestyles, needs, and readiness levels.
UMWT is accelerating its electrification direction through Toyota’s multi-pathway approach, offering solutions shaped by real-world needs, customer readiness, and the way Malaysians use their vehicles.
The Toyota bZ4X, Urban Cruiser BEV (battery electric vehicle), and Hilux BEV strengthen Toyota’s battery electric offering in Malaysia, while the all-new Yaris Cross adds an electrified option to Toyota’s B-SUV (sport utility vehicle) line-up.
Together, they reflect a broader portfolio of electrified choices, with Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) offering a practical step forward through fuel efficiency, smoother driving and no need for external charging, while BEVs support those ready to move towards fully electric driving.
“At Toyota, we recognise that every Malaysian’s mobility needs and lifestyle are different, which is why our Multi-Pathway approach is focused on providing wider mobility choices that are practical, accessible, and relevant to different stages of customer readiness,” said UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K.
“Whether it is Hybrid Electric Vehicles for customers seeking greater fuel efficiency and convenience in daily driving, or Battery Electric Vehicles for those ready to transition towards fully electric mobility, our goal is to offer solutions that fit how Malaysians live, commute, and travel."
"Beyond expanding our product line-up, we continue to strengthen our service readiness, ownership support, and customer experience to ensure every customer can move forward with confidence through choices that best suit their needs,” he added.
Meanwhile, UMWT continues to strengthen ownership confidence through Toyota Extra Mile and the Toyota MY App Campaign, which runs from April to June 2026.
Toyota Extra Mile brings together rewards, protection, convenience, peace of mind, security, and care to support customers throughout their ownership journey, while the app campaign rewards users with 500 Loyal-T Points upon registration and a further 500 Loyal-T Points when they complete a service booking through the app at an authorised Toyota service centre.
Accumulated points can be redeemed for service vouchers.
In conjunction with its May promotional campaign, UMWT is also offering attractive packages across selected models.
Customers can move forward with a brand-new Toyota from RM746 monthly, supported by flexible financing options.
UMWT also continued to support youth development through two long-running programmes that nurture practical action and imagination in different ways.
Toyota Eco Youth, now in its 25th edition, received 327 submissions nationwide, with RM170,000 in grants and prizes supporting 30 shortlisted schools as they develop student-led environmental projects.
Complementing this, the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest encourages children to imagine the future of mobility through art and recorded its highest-ever participation with 6,508 submissions from 96 schools involving more than 72,000 students across Malaysia.
