SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor saw an upward sales continuation for the month of June with Toyota and Lexus brands recording at 8,870 units and 69 units sold respectively.
This compares with May's sales at 7,442 Toyota units and 137 Lexus units.
The June total sales of 8,939 Toyota and Lexus vehicles is higher compared to the overall sales of May at 7,579 units.
The total year-to-date sales for June is 45,911 units (Toyota + Lexus) and is 35% higher compared with 34,111 units (Toyota + Lexus) for the corresponding period of 2021.
UMW Toyota Motor also said the recent end of SST exemption was expected to have a short-term negative impact on sales.
However, this is mitigated with some early signs of recovery on the global shortage of semiconductors and microchips in the second half of this year, production could ramp up and with the launch of newer, more sophisticated models boasting advanced automotive technology which will leave buyers spoilt for choices.
