YOKOHAMA, Japan: Nissan will introduce the United States-built Murano to Japan, with sales scheduled to begin in early 2027.
The Murano is manufactured at Nissan North America’s Smyrna plant in Tennessee.
Nissan will utilise the new certification system for United States-made passenger vehicles established by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in February 2026 to bring the model to Japan.
Nissan president and CEO Ivan Espinosa stated, “I'm excited to share with you that Murano is coming back to Japan. The Murano has earned high praise from customers in the United States for its elegant design and exceptional comfort. It was named the Most Dependable Midsize SUV in the JD Power 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) for the second year in a row.”
The 2026 Murano has a 2.0-litre VC-Turbo (Variable Compression Turbo) powertrain with 241hp and 352Nm of torque.
Features include standard idle stop start, paddle shifters and drive mode selector.
The 2026 Murano is available in SV, SL and Platinum grades.
New features include ProPILOT Assist 2.1, allowing hands-off freeway driving, available in Platinum Technology package.
The SL Comfort package expands availability of ventilated, massaging front seats; heated rear seats; and motion-activated power liftgate.
Premium options include like heated, ventilated and massaging front seats; 64-colour ambient lighting; and available semi-aniline leather-appointed upholstery.
Striking exterior design includes premium touches like available 21-inch wheels, ultra-thin LED headlights and a full-width LED tail light.
Backseat passengers enjoy available rear door sunshades and heated rear seats, Nissan Zero Gravity outboard rear seats and additional rear knee room compared to the previous Murano.
There are also available Bose 10-speaker audio system, and dual 12.3-inch displays featuring Google built-in (SL, Platinum grades).
Integrated camera technologies include Invisible Hood View and 3D Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor.
The standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 offers driver assistance and safety technologies that include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Standard ProPILOT Assist combines Intelligent Cruise Control with Steering Assist to make trips more convenient.
