Vehicle sales down 59% to 22,478 units in March
By THE STAR | 29 April 2020KUALA LUMPUR: Vehicle sales volume fell 59% to 22,478 units in March from 54,776 units in the same period a year ago, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
MAA expects no sales in April as movement control order (MCO) was extended until April 28 and showrooms are closed.
It said sales volume in March was 44% lower than February as businesses stopped from March 18 onwards following the implementation of MCO phase 1.
Of the 22,478 units sold in March 2020, the MAA said 20,260 were passenger cars and the remaining 2,218 were commercial vehicles.
The MAA said total industry vehicles for January-March this year fell to 105,533 units compared with 143,036 units in the previous corresponding period.
