PETALING JAYA: Owners of illegally parked vehicles in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, were taken aback when their cars were towed away by the authorities.

Since June 1, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has carried out a series of enforcement in the busy commercial and residential areas following complaints.

This includes Jalan Kiara 1, where residents from several condominiums have been questioning the delay in enforcement action after repeated complaints on vehicles occupying the roadside.

Several DBKL trucks were seen making rounds at the commercial area such as Solaris Mont Kiara, as well as neighbourhood roads like Jalan Mont Kiara 1 and Jalan Mont Kiara 4, towing away illegally parked vehicles there.

Officers were also present at these sites to issue summons to errant motorists.

On May 20, StarMetro reported that DBKL enforcement director Osman Ismail said operations to tow away the vehicles would start in June after a two-week grace period, as it is still Hari Raya.

"Since the start of the operations, we have towed away 12 vehicles for obstructing traffic.

"This is an ongoing operation and I urge motorists to park at designated parking lots," he said when contacted.
