HAI PHONG (Vietnam): Michael Lohscheller, the German CEO of VinFast, has resigned from the company.

No details were provided by VinFast on Monday except that he stepped down for "personal reasons".

Lohscheller had only been in the post since July after he left as Stellantis' Opel boss to join Vingroup's automotive division. He is expected to return to Europe following his surprised exit.

VinFast, which has been angling to become a global electric car maker, has named Vingroup vice chairwoman Le Thi Thu Thuy, to take over the CEO role. She will retain her position as Vingroup vice chairwoman.

Come Jan 5-8, VinFast will showcase its full EV line-up at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.

The highlight is the unveiling of five models, including three unreleased vehicles entering the A, B and C segments at CES.

The remaining two models, the VF e35 and VF e36, entered the D and E segments, respectively, and were released at the LA Auto Show in November.
