KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has launched the Golf R-Line, following its preview alongside the launch of the new Golf GTI last year.
The Golf R-Line is offered at an early bird pricing of RM179,990 for the first 50 owners.
This is inclusive of VAP (Volkswagen Assurance Package) which covers five-years free maintenance, five-years mileage warranty and five-years complimentary roadside assistance.
The recommended retail price for the Golf R-Line is RM185,990 including VAP.
The Golf R-Line offers mild-hybrid efficiency with its 1.5-litre eTSI (mHEV) turbo engine (150PS/250Nm) mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission.
Locally assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Pekan, the Golf R-Line features refined underbody panels and aerodynamic enhancements that improve airflow, stability and fuel efficiency.
Its sharper lines define a more expressive, modern look from the front, with a new front bumper.
IQ.Light LED matrix headlights incorporate a new high-performance main beam.
The redesigned IQ.Light 3D LED taillight clusters, paired with dynamic turn signals and animated rear graphics add an extra element of style to function.
A new highlight is the illuminated Volkswagen on the front bumper.
The Golf R-Line rides on ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels – a newly introduced design in Malaysia.
Colour options are Oryx White, Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, and Anemone Blue.
Inside, the Golf R-Line presents a digital, driver-centric cabin and features include a tablet-style 12.9-inch media infotainment display with Volkswagen’s new, highly intuitive MIB4 system providing a faster and more responsive user interface with in-built navigation.
There is also the Digital Cockpit Pro featuring a 10-inch high-resolution dashboard display with customisable menus and information, IDA voice assistant with voice enhancer for hands-free convenience, and the multifunction sports steering wheel (leather, heated) with physical buttons and shift paddles for intuitive gear changes.
Other interior features include Air Care Climatronic three-zone automatic climate control with allergen filter, enhanced air filter, and controls for rear passengers as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging, and a seven-speaker sound system.
Meanwhile, IQ.Drive safety technology in the new Golf R-Line include Auto Emergency Braking Front Assist with Pedestrian monitoring to detect pedestrians on-foot and on bicycles or motorcycles, and Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), as well as Rear Traffic Alert and Exit Warning.
There is also Park Distance Control – warning signals for obstacles in the front and rear, Driver Attention Detection – closely monitors driver behaviour to alert of any abnormalities as well as Emergency, Side, and Lane Assist.
Meanwhile, the exterior has R-Line design for the front bumper and radiator grille, as well as the rear bumper featuring chrome exhaust, left and right, and R-Line side skirts.
The R-Line interior includes the black headliner, brushed stainless steel pedals, leather wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel with physical buttons for better tactile feedback, as well as "Carbon Grey" trim in dash and front door panels, and fabric "R-Line" upholstery at the front and outer rear seat with "Artvelours" inner side.
