SYDNEY: In Australia, the Volkswagen ID.4 has been updated for the model year 2027 (MY27) line-up, introducing new technology, enhanced safety systems and increased personalisation.
The MY27 updates further strengthen Volkswagen's all-electric SUV offering, introducing Volkswagen’s new Innovision infotainment system with satellite navigation, physical steering wheel controls, expanded driver assistance technologies and enhanced personalisation features across both ID. 4 Pro and ID. 4 GTX variants.
A highlight of the MY27 update is the introduction of Volkswagen's latest Innovision infotainment system, featuring a 12.9-inch touchscreen display, integrated satellite navigation and enhanced usability.
The new-generation system is complemented by the return of physical steering wheel controls, delivering a more intuitive user experience.
New navigation functionality also enables the enhanced ID. Light system, which provides visual guidance prompts via a thin LED light strip at the base of the windscreen, including animated directional cues for upcoming turns.

Customers will also benefit from the introduction of Driving Experience Selection with Atmospheres, allowing occupants to personalise the interior environment of the vehicle through coordinated adjustments to a range of comfort and convenience settings.
Safety and driver assistance technologies have also been expanded, including:
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Front Cross Traffic Assist
- Proactive Occupant Protection System
- Predictive Speed Limiter
- Enhanced Area View Surround-view Camera System
The Predictive Speed Limiter function works in conjunction with Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition to automatically adjust vehicle speed in response to changing speed limits.
The enhanced Area View system benefits from optimised guidance functionality and wheel protection technology.
The MY27 updates also bring revised battery specifications across the range.
The ID. 4 Pro now features an increased gross battery capacity of 84kWh, while the ID. 4 GTX adopts an 82kWh gross battery capacity.
Both variants continue to support DC fast charging at up to 175 kW, enabling rapid charging performance for long-distance journeys.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles brand director Piergiorgio Minto said, "With a new-generation infotainment system, additional driver assistance technologies and expanded customisation options, the MY27 ID. 4 delivers an even more compelling all-electric SUV offering."
