KUALA LUMPUR: The top-of-the-range Volkswagen Tayron R-Line premium SUV (sport utility vehicle) has been introduced at a recommended retail price of RM237,490.
With the inclusion of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), which includes five years free maintenance, five years manufacturer’s warranty, and five years roadside assistance, the recommended retail price is RM250,074.
Also, an early Merdeka special rewards the first 69 Tayron owners with seven years free maintenance, complimentary accident and car key coverage, and a chance to win a 3D/2N luxury holiday.
“The R-Line is designed for drivers and families whose needs continue to evolve but still want a vehicle that brings excitement to every journey. It is made to fit naturally into the many moments of modern life, from the daily drive to family plans and weekend escapes, while still delivering the confidence, performance and presence expected of Volkswagen’s most dynamic Tayron variant,” said Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) managing director Renate Noessler.
Positioned between the Tiguan and Touareg, the all-new Tayron expands Volkswagen’s SUV line-up with a next generation seven-seater.
Powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission, the R-Line produces 265PS and 400Nm of torque.
It has 4MOTION all-wheel drive system and Dynamic Chassis Control Pro (DCC Pro) for outstanding traction, comfort and exceptional driving dynamics.
At the front, the commanding stance is accentuated by IQ.Light HD Matrix headlights featuring glare-free high beam technology.
There are R-Line styling elements on the front bumper, rear bumper and side profile.
At the rear, striking 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals complement the sculpted bodywork.
Inside, the Varenna leather ergoActive Plus front seats feature 12-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation (cooling) and a 10-air-cushion pneumatic massage function.
The cabin is further enhanced by the Harman Kardon sound system, comprising 11 speakers, a dedicated subwoofer, 700-watt output and a 16-channel digital amplifier.
The R-Line’s flexible seven-seat layout features 40:20:40 split-folding second-row seats, 50:50 split folding third-row seats and up to 1,905 litres of luggage capacity when both rows are folded.
There is also the Easy Open and Close hands-free tailgate.
A 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system powered by Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 software provides access to navigation, entertainment and vehicle functions, while Wireless App-Connect supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro presents fully configurable driving information directly within the driver's line of sight, complemented by a head-up display that projects key information including speed, navigation guidance and driver assistance alerts onto the windshield.
Drivers also benefit from Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant, while the new Centre Console Multi-Function Control provides intuitive access to drive modes, ambient lighting and audio controls through a tactile rotary controller.
Key safety features include Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Assist, Lane Change System Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert with Exit Warning, Front Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring, Park Assist Plus with Park Distance Control, Emergency Assist, Proactive Passenger Protection System, Driver Attention Monitor as well as nine airbags, including a front-centre airbag.
The new R-Line will be available for viewing at authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide from August 13, including a special event from August 14 to 16.
Customers can also visit the Volkswagen Tour at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, LUXE, Ground Floor, ongoing until August 31, 2026, where both the Tayron Elegance and R-Line will be on display.
The Tayron family also includes the Elegance variant, with a 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid engine.
Both variants are locally assembled at the Volkswagen Plant in Pekan.
