Volvo Car UK unveils all-electric EX30 Cargo commercial vehicle

LONDON: Volvo Car UK has unveiled the EX30 Cargo, a new car-derived van based on the all-electric EX30 compact SUV (sport utility vehicle).

The rear seats have been replaced with a flat floor and an access panel to the lower floor, maximising the payload to 390kg and a load capacity of 1,000 litres.

A specially designed payload bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo area, while modified rear side panels and doors increase available load volume.

Two variants are offered: the EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo which offers additional ground clearance.

Created through a second-stage conversion by Volvo Car UK, the EX30 Cargo transforms the electric SUV into a commercial vehicle.

The conversion can be applied to both newly ordered vehicles and existing stock, making it available across Model Year (MY) 2026 and MY 2027 vehicles.

For MY27, the new P3 (150hp) Extended Range powertrain will be introduced for customers who require lower power output than the P5 (272hp) while still benefiting from impressive electric range of up to 300 miles (483km).

The EX30 Cargo also benefits from extended rear door access, allowing the doors to open wider for easier loading.

An additional cargo work light improves visibility within the load area, while the underfloor subframe introduces extra securing and mounting points to support a range of commercial uses.

Volvo Car UK head of fleet Jack Munford said, “While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo.”

The powerful P8 (428hp) All Wheel Drive powertrain is also offered for those seeking even higher performance.

Two trims are available: Core and Plus, alongside the Cross Country Plus.

As standard, the EX30 Cargo Core is generously equipped, including Safe Space Technology and Google Automotive Services, alongside Adaptive Cruise Control.

There are also front and rear Park Assist, complemented by a rear Park Assist camera, 18-inch Aero alloy wheels, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic LED headlights, and the three-phase 11kW onboard charger with heat pump.

The EX30 Cargo Plus adds enhancements including Pilot Assist and Digital Key Plus.

The cabin has a Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and two-zone climate control and wireless phone charging.

Exterior styling is enhanced with a dual-tone roof and 19-inch Aero alloy wheels.
