Volvo Cars names Tata Technologies as strategic supplier

PUNE/GOTHENBURG: Tata Technologies has been named a strategic supplier to Volvo Cars, strengthening the Indian engineering firm’s role in supporting the Swedish automaker’s shift towards software-defined, electric mobility.

Under the expanded agreement, Tata Technologies will provide product engineering, embedded software development and product lifecycle management services from its global delivery centres, including Gothenburg, India, Romania and Poland.

Volvo Cars, widely recognised for its leadership in vehicle safety and sustainability, is pursuing an ambitious transformation centred on electrification, software-driven platforms and smart in-car experiences.

By enlisting Tata Technologies, the group aims to bolster its engineering capacity and accelerate the development of intelligent, environmentally responsible vehicles.

Tata Technologies chief executive officer and managing director Warren Harris welcomed the deeper collaboration, noting that the appointment reflects Volvo’s confidence in Tata’s “turnkey product engineering and digital transformation expertise.”

Tata Technologies first began working with Volvo Cars in a more limited capacity.

The new arrangement significantly broadens its remit, enabling Tata to tap into local knowledge at Volvo’s Automotive Centre of Excellence in Gothenburg while leveraging its own international network.

This combination is intended to deliver scalable engineering support and innovation more efficiently.
