KUALA LUMPUR: Booking for the single-motor variant of the Volvo EC40 is now open.
Available as a 2026 make model, the new variant comes in at a recommended retail price (RRP) of RM248,888 which is RM40,000 less than the current twin-motor setup.
It'll be available in the top-specification Ultra trim and features Volvo’s second-generation, in-house developed permanent magnet rear electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 175kW (238hp) and a 0-100kph acceleration in 7.3 seconds.
The variant's 70kWh high-voltage battery offers up to 488km (WLTP) and can be charged from 10%-80% in 26 minutes with fast DC charging.
A new Sand Dune exterior colour, first introduced on the 2025 model year EX90, will be offered as an option on the EC40 alongside the classic Aurora Silver, Onyx Black and Crystal White paint.
Inside the model is a leather-free interior with Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech, while the décor design has also been updated with Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels.
Its 9-inch Google built-in centre display and 12.3-inch driver’s display will feature Volvo’s next-generation user interface that debuted in the EX30.
As with all Volvo cars, the EC40 comes with the full Safe Space Technology suite featured in its flagship models.
Volvo Car Malaysia will be offering customers of the new single-motor EC40 free car insurance for the first year worth RM5,600 and a wallbox charger voucher worth RM5,000 for a limited time.
