KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the all-electric ES90 in a single Ultra variant, priced on-the-road without insurance at RM339,888 with annual road tax costing RM395.
The locally-assembled ES90 is the brand's first fully electric sedan.
Presently, this electric vehicle (EV) comes with a 2% discount (or RM333,090) for the first 100 customers with bookings made by March 31 and deliveries are said to begin in the month of March.
Furthermore, an 8% discount is also available for fleet sales.
The ES90 is available in Vapour Grey, Crystal White, Denim Blu, and Onyx Black.
Regardless of colour choice, this EV's cabin comes with ventilated Charcoal Nordico upholstery and Birch Wood decor.
There is a standard five-year unlimited mileage warranty and an eight-year or 160,000km coverage for the 92kWh Lithium-ion Nickel rich NCM battery (88kWh usable).
Using a 7.4kW AC home charger, fully charging the battery from 0% to 100% takes 15 hours, or 10 hours with an 11kW charger.
With a faster 50kW DC charger, getting the battery's State of Charge from 10% to 80% will take about 82 minutes, but using a faster 320kW charger drops the wait time to roughly 22 minutes.
The battery powers a rear-mounted electric motor to deliver 333hp (245kW) and 480Nm of torque.
The outright performance allows the rear wheel drive ES90 to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 6.6 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 180kph.
On average, the ES90 claims to consume just 15.9kW per 100km at best and provide up to 651km (WLTP) on a single full charge.
Externally, the ES90 comes rolling in on 22-inch alloys with tyre pressure monitoring system, shod with front 255/40 and rear 285/35 series tyres that hide the active air suspension system.
The rear powered tailgate provides 424 litres (733 litres) while a 22-litre frunk adds a touch more convenience.
For illumination, LEDs are used for the front headlights, integrated Thor's Hammer-like daytime runners, and rear light clusters.
Inside, the cabin features powered front and rear seats, a heads-up display, a 9.0-inch digital display for the driver, a 14.5-inch portrait infotainment system that's capable of receiving over-the-air updates while powering the 25-speaker 1,610W Bowers and Wilkins High Fidelity Audio System with Dolby Atmos surround sound system and an Abbey Road Studios listening mode for spatial audio.
The ES90 also comes standard with Volvo Car Connect Plus, Volvo Cars App, Volvo On Call, Digital Key Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, and Core Computing.
Standard safety kit includes seven airbags, side impact protection system, whiplash protection system for front seats, rear ISOFIX mounting points, interior radar, safety belts with pretensioners and load limiters, and finally electrically reversible retractor belts.
This is further bolstered by collision avoidance and mitigation, oncoming mitigation by braking, pedestrian, cyclist and scooter steering avoidance, as well as rear collision warning and avoidance.
There's also intersection auto brake, blind spot information system with steer assist, lane keeping aid, run-off road mitigation, oncoming lane mitigation rear cross traffic alert with low speed auto brake, door opening alert, driver understanding system, occupant sensing, and emergency stop assist.
