Volvo EX90 wins major award

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-electric Volvo EX90 has been crowned World Luxury Car of the Year 2024.

Announced ahead of the New York International Auto Show, the World Car Awards jury — comprising 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries — praised the EX90’s refined Scandinavian luxury, powerful all-electric performance, and safety-first innovation.

The accolade further cements the EX90’s status as Volvo’s most technologically advanced and safest car to date.

Engineered as a “computer on wheels”, the EX90 delivers an ever-improving experience through over-the-air software updates, intelligent sensors, and a next-generation safety suite rooted in real-time data.

Built on Volvo Cars’ in-house Superset tech stack and powered by Nvidia Drive AI platforms, the EX90’s core computing system drives every aspect of the car — from infotainment and safety features to advanced driver assistance.

A full suite of radars, cameras, ultrasonic sensors and an all-new lidar system make the EX90 the first Volvo to be hardware-ready for progressive autonomous driving, as regulations and software capabilities evolve.

The sensors also support an upgraded Pilot Assist system with automatic steering during lane changes — a step closer to hands-free convenience.

The EX90 has a recommended retail price of RM442,888 (Peninsular Malaysia) and RM442,648 (Sabah and Sarawak), including five-year complimentary digital services, 24-hour roadside assistance, and unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty.

The high-voltage battery pack is warrantied for eight years.

The first 50 buyers of the EX90 will get a free charging wallbox voucher and foldable sunshade for the panoramic sunroof worth RM5,000.

Customers can visit Volvo Car Malaysia’s website or selected authorised Volvo Car dealerships to book a test drive.
