Volvo sheds light on all-electric EM90 interior ahead of Nov 12 debut

GOTHENBURG: Volvo Cars is providing more details about its upcoming EM90 electric MPV, which is set to have its world premiere on Nov 12.

Described by Volvo as a "Scandinavian living room," the EM90 aims to save time and reduce stress for its owner.

The focus is on creating a space that promotes joy, peace of mind, and an enhanced quality of life.

The interior of the EM90 is designed to offer generous cabin width and legroom, with premium materials and luxury lounge seats featuring zero-gravity cushions.

The vehicle also boasts a large panoramic sunroof and beautiful Scandinavian design details.

Sophie Li, Head of Design at Volvo's Design Studio in Shanghai, stated that the goal was to create a car that provides personal comfort and a stylish and elegant travel experience.

The EM90 offers a spacious and flexible interior suitable for both family and business use.

Passengers can enjoy personalised entertainment and comfort adjustment options, with special lounge seats in the second row that include a massage function, individual ventilation and heating options, as well as built-in tables and cupholders.

The car features sliding rear doors and long-sliding second-row seats for easy access to the third row.

The panoramic sunroof covers the entire cabin and offers multiple ambient lighting settings to create a Scandinavian mood.

Scandinavian design details are integrated throughout the cabin, with materials such as Orrefors crystal and back-lit birch wood deco panels.

The upholstery and deco patterns draw inspiration from Scandinavian nature and Asian art, combining modern design with the beauty of the natural world.

The EM90 follows on as the third next-generation electric vehicle in the Volvo line-up after the EX90 and EX30.

As its name seems to indicate, the EM90 will likely use the same battery and powertrain setup as the EX90.

That would mean the EM90 would have battery capacity in excess of 100kWh and a range of over 480km.

The EM90 will initially be launched in China, with pre-orders starting on Nov 12.
