Meanwhile, Europe will soon see the German carmaking giant introduce the Arteon Shooting Brake that will be bundled with new powertrain options that include a 218PS plug-in hybrid and a 320PS R performance variant.
Back the US, the Arteon's looks have had its front end refined with sharpened design elements that sees it looking wider and sharper at the same time to help it achieve a better drag coefficient that's an impressive 0.265Cd (the lower the better).
For the first time, the Arteon can be configured with an illuminated grille which means the newly-designed LED daytime runners with its new lighting signature can "connect" with a central light bar in the grille.
Not to mention, the front apron has also been modified with three chrome bars that are flanked by large air intake openings in front of the front wheels.
Inside, the cockpit has been revamped with a new dashboard together with the air vents before finding a 30-colour ambient lighting system in the options list and upgrading the materials that now come with decorative seams that visually "pop" for that premium feel.
Not to mention, a new multifunction steering wheel will be used that features digital touch surfaces and incorporated with the brand's new and optional Travel Assist system that detects whether or not the driver has at least one hand on the wheel for safety reasons.
The system can also allow for partial-automated driving from 0 to 210kph (within the system limits) in situations that include stop-and-go traffic which works with adaptive cruise control and predictive speed control and can react to speed limits as well as operate in towns, around bends, roundabouts and junctions with corresponding speed adaptation.
The Lane Assist lane-keeping system that keeps the vehicle in the centre of the lane and Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring also form part of the range of Travel Assist functions.
The optional Rear View reversing camera has also been further enhanced to feature among other things a Corner View by expanding the camera image on the infotainment system screen from 90 degrees to a wider 170 degrees. Not to mention, a special trailer view (of the tow bar from above to facilitate hitching up the trailer) is also incorporated.
The temperature settings can now be adjusted via a touch slider for the optional tri-zone Climatronic automatic climate control and also include the blower function when in the manual mode.
Seat heating, windscreen and window defrosting functions as well as other air conditioner regulations are also controlled using new touch-sensitive surfaces in the centre console.
The Arteon is equipped with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit which allows the driver to configure the instrument display quickly and easily with three basic layouts using a View button on the multifunction steering wheel.
Furthermore, the new MIB3 infotainment system has been adopted and is located above the new air-conditioning controls.
All variants of the Arteon in the United States will be equipped as standard with an 8.0-inch Discover Media system that comes with navigation.
The MIB3 system is said to offer natural voice control as well as the ability to pair multiple smartphones, wireless App-Connect and wireless charging.
The sound system can now be upgraded to carry the Harman/Kardon logo which uses a 700-watt 16-channel Ethernet amplifier to power twelve speakers including a centre speaker and a subwoofer in the boot while providing four pre-configured settings of Pure, Chill out, Live and Energy.
For power, the Arteon still maintains the use of the current 2.0-litre TSI direct-injected engine with 268hp and 350Nm that's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic shifting for the front wheels.
