VW to preview entry level-EV on March 15

WOLFSBURG: Volkswagen will be previewing a new entry-level electric model.
The preview of the compact and affordable electric vehicle (EV) would be livestreamed from Hamburg across Volkswagen's social media channels at 6.20pm CET (1.20am Thursday in Malaysia) on March 15.
The mystery model has been speculated as being called the ID.2 or ID. Golf as it would be about the size of VW's popular combustion engine hatchback. But it seemed the ID.2 name is more plausible as VW has dropped a hint with a preview video that has the slogan "More 2 come 4 you".
Volkswagen said the car that would be unveiled would also be a foretaste of the new design language for future models.
Based on a heavily revised MEB platform called MEB+, the ID.2 is expected to launch in 2025, and feature cheaper lithium iron phosphate batteries, front electric motor and 200kW charging speed. The platform would also allow for a performance variant to be introduced as a second electric motor could be mounted at the rear.
March 15 is also the day Volkswagen would publish its 2022 financial year results for its passenger cars.
CEO Thomas Schäfer and CFO Patrik Andreas Mayer would provide an outlook on the brand's strategy and how Volkswagen intends to further accelerate its transformation into the leading provider of e-mobility.
